Uptime Kuma watches from the outside: is the port answering, is the site up. AgentPulse watches from the inside: is the disk filling, did a service die, is a process eating all the memory — and it can act on what it sees.

That’s why they’re not really substitutes. Kuma can’t clean a disk or restart a failed unit; AgentPulse can’t tell you whether your site is reachable from another continent.
